Trippy ("we", "our", or "us") is operated by Auralenor Unipessoal Lda. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo. We store this information to create and maintain your account.

Trip Data: Trip names, destinations, dates, expenses, polls, and chat messages that you create within the app. This data is stored in Firebase (Google Cloud) and is only accessible to members of each trip.

Usage Data: We may collect anonymous analytics data including app opens, feature usage, and crash reports to improve the app experience. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the Trippy service
  • To enable group features (trip creation, expense splitting, voting, chat)
  • To send you relevant notifications about your trips
  • To improve and optimize the app experience

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Your data is shared only in the following circumstances:

  • Trip Members: Your name, profile photo, expenses, votes, and chat messages are visible to other members of the same trip.
  • Service Providers: We use Firebase (Google Cloud) for authentication, data storage, and analytics. Google's privacy policy applies to their processing of data.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of our users.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on Firebase (Google Cloud Platform) servers. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Firebase Security Rules that restrict data access to authorized users
  • Authentication via Google and Apple's secure OAuth2 protocols

5. Your Rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar laws, you have the right to:

Trippy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
